It hurts me to rate a Lauren Dane title so low. She has some of my absolute favorite romances from the last few years. But this one just didn’t work for me. -Smut Matters
On the surface; this should have been a perfect read for me. Second chance romance, small town, hero who comes back to his hometown temporarily but ended up staying. Unfortunately the book fell a little flat for me. -Smut Matters
The writing was overdone, the plot tired, and frankly, I just don’t care about the plight of the poor, displaced, middle-aged white man. -Smut Matters

I know I always come across as hating this series when I review it, but I really don’t. I love the world Darynda Jones has created, and I love getting to visit it. Weirdly, Reyes and Charley have always been the weakest part of it for me, and that’s not going to change. – Smut Matters
