I’ve recently come off of a long hiatus from the urban fantasy/paranormal romance genres. I just got burned out on them and needed a break. But now I’m back and I’m rediscovering why I liked them so much. I’m working my way through the Psy/Changeling series, the Mercy Thompson series, the Kate Daniels series, and the Dresden Files. Oh! And the the Charley Davidson series. I’ve learned that one thing that makes these genres work better for me is listening to them on audio. Maybe it’s something about the first person POV that clicks in audio form, I don’t know. But it’s really working for me.
