New York Times Bestselling Authors Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde bring you THE BOOK BOYFRIEND SERIES, featuring four hot heroes guaranteed to make you swoon!
Fall in love with your next Book Boyfriend . . .
Wes Sinclair is a notorious heart-breaker, a hot as sin bad boy with a panty-dropping smile no woman can resist. Except for his prim and proper adversary, Natalie Prescott, who seems immune to his flirtatious charms. While she's become a permanent fixture in his dirtiest, most scandalous fantasies, she wants nothing to do with him, or his seductive promises. Challenge accepted. His goal? To bring her to her knees, make her beg, and show her just how good being bad can be.
ALL BOOK BOYFRIEND NOVELS: Hot as Sin Hot and Heavy Hot as Hell Hot as it Gets
After finishing up the Dirty Sexy series, I was thrilled to find out that Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde were teaming up again. I was not disappointed; Big Shot was a fun, delicious story, a sort of frenemies-to-lovers story full of snark and plenty of sexy times.
The relationship between Wes and Natalie goes back decades; he’s been her older brother’s best friend since they were kids, and she’s had a crush on him for almost as long. She never acted on it, thinking there was no way Wes would reciprocate those feelings. Wes has been interested in her, too, but wouldn’t act on it because of the “bro code'” or whatever.
But now they’re business rivals, both fighting for the highest real estate listings in Chicago, and Natalie has snatched three listings out from under Wes in the last week, and he’s had it. He knows that it’s at least partially his own fault; Natalie wanted to work for Premier Realty, the company he owns with two other men, but he wouldn’t let her, mainly because he didn’t think he’d be able to keep his dick in his pants around her. Which isn’t a great reason to not let her work there, but we’ll move on. So now she’s stealing some of the best listings in Chicago, and Wes is determined to stop her. So they decide to commit to the time-honored romance novel convention of making a bet. They’ll choose one listing to compete on. If Natalie wins, she gets to work at Premier Realty as a broker. If Wes wins, Natalie will be his life slave for two weeks. No sex, though. Of course. That’s explicitly off the table. Of course.
Fortunately for us, Natalie loses. Also fortunately for us, she has a great sense of humor about it, leading to a lot of really fun scenes where she follows the letter of the bet but not the spirit. She makes this book for me. She’s smart, funny, great at her job, and has no problem going after what she wants. Wes was a good character, too, but he was also a little more generic for me. There wasn’t anything with Wes we haven’t seen before. Heroines like Natalie are a little more rare.
Overall, this was a fun start to a new series. It’s a spinoff of their Dirty Sexy series, so if you’ve read that series, you’ll see some familiar faces, but if you haven’t, you don’t need to in order to enjoy this book.
